Getting to Know A Star






        
Chapter 1: Ivelisse, Puertorican Sensation

 

 

If you've ever seen La Sicaria Ivelisse wrestle recently you can see that fiery attitude and spirit translate into her work. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico back in '87 she's been wrestling since the age of 14. Do the math, yes she a veteran.

The promotion she debuted with in Puerto Rico is World Wrestling Council. After doing what she could there and in the IWA (International Wrestling Association) she came to the mainland United States and hit the Chicago indie scene training with Steve Bozniak. This would lead to the start of her WWE stint. 


In 2011 Ivelisse was announced as part of the fifth season of Tough Enough. However after an injury she was eliminated. All hope was not lost though as she was signed to a deal with FCW (Florida Championship Wrestling) under the name Sofia Cortez and to many just familiarizing themselves with Ivelisse she was a blonde back then 



After rebranding FCW into what is now known as NXT she held wins over talent such as Paige and even future hall of famer Natalya. However her last match saw Cortez/Ivelisse lose to Tamina Snuka. She was released after filing complaints against then trainer Bill Demott

​Ivelisse in an interview with Chris VanVleet stated that she wished she had held on a little longer and maybe she could have been part of the women's evolution perhaps. Fear not though. Ivelisse has made quite the career on the independent scene. She has made appearances for big Indys like Shine Wrestling and Lucha Underground. She's also seen action in bigger promotions like Lucha Libre AAA Wresting, TNA (Total Nonstop Action) and most recently AEW (All Elite Wresting)

Natalia Markova The People's Champ?

Natalia Markova appeared on Just Another F'N Podcast a few weeks ago and was asked the question, what was going through your head as you made your debut on AEW Dark? "probably the same thing that's running through my head for any match, I'm just very nervous, I want everything to go well, I want to do well...The good news is once I've crossed that curtain I'm ok, I'm happy " She did more than just "well", she turned a squash match for Leyla Hirsch into the Natalia Markova show! Everything about this match seemed to be against Natalia, she was facing another Russian and wouldn't be getting anything, in the way of offence. So she sold every suplex like she was being utterly destroyed, and then a remarkable thing happened Twitter and YouTube were flooded with comments directed at AEW to sign Natalia. Natalia Markova Should be Elite

Her Name is Natalia Markova, The Russian Crush,  I discovered her by accident while surfing Twitter one day.... ....there she was: splashed across my screen! One of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen, and all she was wearing were two championship wrestling belts     I quickly commented “beautiful” and within seconds I had a response. No wrestler had ever responded to me, never mind this fast; I had to know more!  I started looking for Natalia Markova matches on YouTube. The first match was against Sonny Kiss. She was the perfect heel and the fans booed her like crazy shouting “USA! USA!”. I really believed she was going to lose. The storytelling in this match was excellent as the evil Russian was cheating at every turn and stealing the win! The next match I saw her in was the complete opposite.
